By accessing or using FolioNorth (folionorth.ca) in any way — including browsing, using the calculators, or subscribing to the newsletter — you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These terms apply to all visitors and users.

FolioNorth is intended for Canadian residents who are at least 18 years old. The content, calculators, and information on this site are designed around Canadian tax law, registered accounts (RRSP, TFSA), and Canadian-listed securities. If you access FolioNorth from outside Canada, you do so at your own risk and acknowledge that the information may not apply to your jurisdiction.

Nothing on FolioNorth constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The calculators and written content are provided for educational and informational purposes only.

The calculators produce estimates based on the numbers and assumptions you enter. Those estimates are illustrative — they are not personalized recommendations, and they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your full financial situation.

Before making any material financial decision — such as changing your asset allocation, executing a Norbert's Gambit, or restructuring your registered accounts — we recommend consulting a fee-only financial planner, a tax accountant, or another qualified advisor.

You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on information found on this site.

FolioNorth's calculators are educational tools. Their outputs depend entirely on the inputs and assumptions you provide, which may not accurately reflect your personal situation. Additionally:

• Currency exchange rates shown are illustrative defaults, not live market rates. Always verify the current rate with your brokerage.
• Management expense ratios (MERs), foreign withholding tax rates, and other ETF-specific figures are sourced from publicly available information and may be out of date.
• Tax treatment rules — including withholding tax treaties, dividend tax credits, and registered account rules — can change. Verify current rules with the CRA or a tax professional.

FolioNorth makes no warranty that calculator outputs are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Some links on the /offers page and within site content are affiliate links. FolioNorth may earn a commission if you open an account or complete a transfer through one of these links, at no additional cost to you.

Current affiliate relationships include brokerages such as Wealthsimple and Questrade. Affiliate compensation does not influence which brokerages are listed, how they are ranked, or the editorial content of the calculators and articles on this site. We only link to services we believe are genuinely useful for Canadian DIY investors.

All content on FolioNorth — including text, calculator logic, code, images, and design — is the property of FolioNorth or its content providers and is protected by copyright.

You are welcome to use the calculators for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, redistribute, scrape, or use the content to train machine learning models without prior written permission. Brief quotations with attribution (linking back to the source page) are permitted.

When using FolioNorth, you agree not to:

• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or circumvent any security feature of the site
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content or data without permission
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful information through any form on the site
• Impersonate FolioNorth, its operators, or any other person or entity
• Use the site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law

FolioNorth contains links to external websites — brokerage platforms, ETF issuers, government resources, and others. These links are provided for your convenience. FolioNorth does not control those sites, is not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and does not endorse them simply by linking to them. Access third-party sites at your own risk.

FolioNorth is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FolioNorth disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

• Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information
• Uninterrupted or error-free access to the site
• Freedom from viruses or other harmful components

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. If those laws apply to you, some of the above may not apply.

To the maximum extent permitted under applicable Canadian law, including applicable provincial consumer protection legislation, FolioNorth and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site or its content — including any investment decisions made in reliance on calculator outputs.

In all cases, FolioNorth's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the site is limited to the greater of: (a) CAD $100, or (b) the total amount, if any, you have paid to FolioNorth in the twelve months preceding the claim. Because FolioNorth is a free site, this cap is functionally CAD $100 for most users.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FolioNorth and its operators from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the site in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any applicable law; or (c) your infringement of any third-party right.

FolioNorth reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For changes that significantly affect users' rights, we will also display a notice on the site and, where feasible, notify newsletter subscribers by email.

Continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, for the resolution of any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the site.
